Our Story

Since 1976, Trinity In-Home Care has helped individuals in Douglas County remain in their homes, surrounded by the lives they've built. We do this by providing non-medical in-home and community support to help elderly and people with disabilities. Our mission is to provide a community-based alternative to prevent or delay the institutionalization of children and adults with disabilities, and to assist older adults to remain in their own homes, with family or primary caregivers. Trinity In-Home Care is a licensed, private 501C3 non-profit agency run by a volunteer Board of Directors.

Our Staff

Janine Gracy

Executive Director

Janine joined Trinity In-Home Care (TIHC) in May of 2021. She brings to the agency several years of experience in non-profit management, community engagement, strategic planning, and program development. She also has an extensive background in grant writing. Prior to TIHC, Janine worked at the University of Kansas Medical Center as Project Director of the Heartland Telehealth Resource Center. She has also held leadership positions at Johnson County Mental Health, HealthSET in Denver, Sumner Community Health Organization, CPPR & Watkins Health Center at the University of Kansas. Janine has both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Education from the University of Kansas and is a Certified Health Education Specialist and Certified Prevention Professional.

Janine and her husband Rob have raised 4 children: Jace, Jeff, Andrew, and Ashlynn; and are now enjoying their 13 (so far) grandchildren. Janine loves Lawrence and jumped at the chance to move back to the community she dearly loves. She bleeds Crimson and Blue and serves as President of the Tri-Delta Lawrence Alumnae Chapter.

Caitlin Schmidt

Client Service Coordinator

Caitlin joined Trinity In-Home Care as Service Coordinator in July of 2014. Caitlin holds a Masters in Clinical Social Work and a Bachelors of Social Welfare from the University of Kansas. Caitlin’s previous experience is in geriatric and mental health care settings. Before joining TIHC, she worked at Meals on Wheels, Brandon Woods, and the Topeka VA Inpatient Geropsychiatry unit (for older adults with mental illness or severe dementia). At the VA she also co-facilitated a caregiver support group with those caring for stroke survivors. She is passionate about helping clients maintain their independence and do so with the best quality of life possible!
